Counseling Research Guide

JCD is the official publication of the American Counseling Association (ACA). The journal publishes practice, theory, and research articles across 20 different specialty areas and work settings. Sections include research, assessment and diagnosis, theory and practice, and trends.

The Career Development Quarterly (CDQ) is the official journal of the National Career Development Association (NCDA). The purpose of CDQ is to foster career development through the design and use of career interventions and publish articles on career counseling, individual and organizational career development, work and leisure, career education, career coaching, and career management.

Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) is the official publication of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), a division of the American Counseling Association. CES is dedicated to publishing manuscripts with original research, theory development, or program applications related to counselor education and supervision. The focus is on the preparation and supervision of counselors in agency or school settings, in colleges and universities or at local, state, or federal levels.

The Journal of Counseling Psychology publishes empirical research in the areas of
counseling activities (including assessment, interventions, consultation, supervision, training, prevention, psychological education, and advocacy), career and educational development and vocational psychology, diversity and underrepresented populations in relation to counseling activities, the development of new measures to be used in counseling activities, and professional issues in counseling psychology.

Devoted to traditional data-based research. Addresses concerns of mental health counselors in private paractice, community agencies, business and industry, and rehabilitation who deal with issues such as family counseling and substance abuse.

JAOC is the official journal of the International Association of Addictions and Offender Counselors (IAAOC), a member association of ACA. JAOC contains articles of interest to professionals in the field of addictions and offender counseling and focuses on descriptions of prevention and treatment programs, theoretical and philosophical rationales for programs with juvenile and adult offenders, and descriptions of research conducted on rehabilitation programs with offenders and public offender counselors. It is also open to literature focusing on the attitudes and behaviors of addictions and offender counselors.

JMCD is the official journal of the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD), a member association of ACA. JMCD is concerned with research, theory, or program applications pertinent to multicultural and ethnic minority interests in all areas of counseling and human development.

The Journal for Specialists in Group Work is directed toward group work practitioners with a focus on group work theory, interventions, training, current issues, and research. The group process is a powerful method for development and change in the individual, the organization, and the community.

Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development is an official journal of the Association of Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC), a member association and division of the American Counseling Association. Articles range in appeal from those that deal with theoretical and other problems of the measurement specialist to those directed to the administrator, the counselor, or the personnel worker--in schools and colleges, public and private agencies, business, industry, and government. All articles clearly describe implications for the counseling field and for practitioners, educators, administrators, researchers, or students in assessment, measurement, and evaluation.
