Each game in the library has a one-page overview. In it you will find:

The game’s name. Games are shelved alphabetically, so they should be easy to find and check out.

A one-line summary. This will quickly let you know if the game you’re considering sounds interesting!

A description of the game, usually from the back of the box or Board Game Geek.

Suggested uses for the game. This game library was created to accomplish two goals:

  1. To create community. Some of the games in this collection are just plain fun, and are meant to bring the community together through play. Pick up these games on a lunch break or between classes and relax!
  2. To create a resource for students (and teachers) to use with their clients. William James College is a school of professional psychology, and games can be used as tools across all of our programs. When a game is especially well-suited to help teach a concept or skill it will be called out under the game’s uses.

Additional resources, such as research articles, notes about how the game has been used in the field in the past, and instructions.

Quick info, including how long the game takes to play, the minimum and maximum number of players it supports, how complex the game is (as rated by Board Game Geek. 1 is easy to pick up and play, and 5 is the most complex game in existence. For comparison: chess is a 3.71), and the player dynamic (whether the game is cooperative or competitive and, if so, how intense the competition is).
